Dr. Ammar has 30 years of experience in Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery. He completed his MBBS in 1986 and is a Board-Certified Surgeon in Orthopaedics and Trauma. He underwent a higher surgical training program as a Specialist Registrar at Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore, London, UK and associated hospitals from 1994 to 2000. In 1993, he was awarded the honorary Fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) of England, Edinburgh, and Dublin.
Dr. Ammar worked as a junior trainee surgeon in Ireland and UK from 1990 to 1994. After completion of higher surgical training in Orthopaedics, he obtained FRCS Edinburgh UK in 2000 and obtained British Board Certification in Orthopaedics from Royal College of Surgeons UK.
Dr. Ammar’s medical practice in the UAE commenced with his appointment as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and Chief of Orthopaedic Department in one of the largest government hospitals in the UAE from 2000 to 2009. Following that, he joined a private hospital in Abu Dhabi.
Dr. Ammar has surgical expertise in total knee arthroplasty and knee arthroscopic surgery. His areas of expertise include musculoskeletal system treatment, emergency/acute care, in-patient/out-patient orthopaedic care, pre- and post-operative care, latest techniques, best equipment handling, reduction of clinical risk, and innovation in orthopaedic clinical practice.
Dr. Ammar has several professional credentials including an ATLS Course in 2010. His credential list also includes Examiner in the Department of Health Abu Dhabi and is a committee member for Medical Negligence in the Department of Health Abu Dhabi.
Dr. Ammar speaks English, Urdu, Hindi, Panjabi and basic Arabic.
